What We Believe

Ephesians 2:8
We believe that God has revealed Himself to us as the Triune God. God is one in essence but three in persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). [Deut. 6:4; 2 Cor. 13:14]
We believe that Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity–true God and true man. By His death and resurrection He has freed us from the power of sin, death and the devil. His work alone saves us.[2 Cor. 5:21; Rom. 5:8]
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. We believe that the Holy Spirit continues to transform lives and gives His gifts where and when He pleases.[Rom. 12:3-8; 1 Cor. 12:4-11]
We believe the Bible is the Word of God and that it is inerrant and infallible. We believe that it is the final authority in all matters of faith and life.[2 Tim. 3:16]
We believe that a person is made right with God (justified) by grace through faith in Jesus Christ as his or her personal Savior (not by good works) and that this is the only way of salvation.[Eph. 2:8-9; John 3:18; John 14:6]
We believe that Christians do good works not to be saved, but because Jesus makes us into new people who want to serve others. Good works accompany true faith.[2 Cor. 5:17; Eph. 2:10; James 2:26]
We believe that God created everything out of nothing. There is a purpose and order to creation not random chance.[Gen. 1:1; Heb. 11:3]
We believe that God works through baptism and grants through this means of grace the forgiveness of sins and the gift of faith.[Rom. 6:3-5; Titus 3:4-7]
We believe that Jesus' body and blood are truly present in, with and under the bread and wine in Holy Communion. In this sacrament the forgiveness of sins is conveyed to those who come in faith and repentance.[Matt. 26:26-28; 1 Cor. 11:17-32]
We believe that Christ will return, that there will be a separating of those who are "in Christ" (to heaven) from those who are not "in Christ" (to hell), and that this separation will be for all eternity.[Matt. 25:31-46; Luke 21:25-28]
